In case you missed it, the internet has been flooded with the sort of nonsensical AI-generated images that human artists typically wouldn't invest the time and effort to actually create. This content has aptly been named 'AI Slop'
There is one upside to this: undiscerning LLM/AI tools scrape these images with the same enthusiasm as actual human art. The machine seems to be choking on the very garbage it's spewing out. It's unclear if this is just a bump in the road for AI or the start of a downward cycle of ruin. On the financial side, it smells like an AI bubble is about to burst.
The way this part of the AI development journey has gone for society doesn't bode well for the outcome of creating AGI superintelligence.
